A basic moodle course can look a bit messy with lots of activity that learners need to scroll through. It can be a bit overwhelming to see so much work to do all at once.
Sure, you could restrict access to each activity and set activity completion conditions. The resources and activities would become visible one by one, or group by group, in order to guide the learners along their path but that can be a lot of work and it takes time to set up for each and every activity.
The solution?
Quite simple really – go to course administration click on edit settings. Scroll down to Course format, and in Course layout instead of ‘Show all sections on one page’ choose ‘Show one section per page’. Click save and display. That’s it!
The course will look the same from the trainers point of view but completely different for your learners point of view. The course main page will show only the section headings, and descriptions if there are any, but not the resources or activities in each section.
So there you have it, simple yet effective.
